Rev. John Praczkajlo, 80, was the son of Joseph and Mary Praczkajlo. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. John Kanty College in Erie, Pennsylvania and a doctorate at St. Bernard Seminary, Rochester. He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Buffalo, New York on May 21, 1932 at St. Joseph New Cathedral.
Father Praczkajlo served as an assistant pastor at St. Bernard, St. Casimir, St. Stanislaus and Holy Cross parishes, all in Buffalo, and St. John Gualbert, Cheektowaga. He was then appointed pastor of St. Mathias, French Creek and Our Lady of the Snows, Panama. Later he was named pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Colden; and Holy Trinity, Niagara Falls. He retired in 1982 and was named pastor emeritus of Holy Trinity.

Father Praczkajlo spoke French and Polish fluently and was host to many foreign prelates who visited the area. He was also one of the first coordinators for Catholic youth organizations and led many high school retreats. He was also the chaplain for the Echo Society and spiritual advisor to a number of Religious Orders.
