Longtime Niagara Falls Pastor, Reverend Monsignor Leonard E. Biniszkiewicz, age 76, of Lackawanna, NY, passed away, peacefully, Friday, August 10, 2012 in Father Baker Manor in Orchard Park, NY, after a brief illness. He was born in Buffalo, NY on March 29, 1936 to the late Leonard and Helen (nee Korzeniewski) Biniszkiewicz.
Msgr. was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School, Buffalo East High School and St. John Vianney Seminary in East Aurora. He received his BA and MA in Education from Canisius College. On March 9, 1963, he was ordained in St. Joseph New Cathedral by Bishop Leo R. Smith.
Following his ordination in 1963, Father Len served in the Missionary Apostolate of St. Isadore in East Otto, NY and ministered at the Summer Boy Scout Camps. From 1964-1967, he served as parochial vicar at St. Florian and St. Lawrence Churches in Buffalo. In 1967 he was appointed to the faculty of Bishop Turner High School in Buffalo. In 1971 he served on the faculty of Baker Victory High School in Lackawanna until 1975 when he was appointed senior parochial vicar at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in West Seneca. In 1982 he was appointed Pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in Niagara Falls where he remained for the next seven years. In 1989 Fr. Len was appointed Pastor of St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Parish in Niagara Falls where he remained until his retirement in 2006.
During his tenure at St. Teresa's he also served as episcopal vicar of the Western Niagara Vicariate. In 1993 he was bestowed the honor of Prelate of Honor by Pope John Paul II and was given the title of Monsignor.
Msgr. Len was a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement, Mission Renewal, Cursillo, Marriage Encounter, the Priest's Council, Spiritual advisor to the Magnificat Women's Ministry and a Commission Member of the Journey in Faith and Grace.
